Impulse 2025 Programme Now Open for Applications

Royce is pleased to continue its support of impulse 2025, the entrepreneurship programme for innovators delivered by the Maxwell Centre at the University of Cambridge, which is now open for its first round of applications.

impulse is an action-learning programme designed to catalyse the development of high-potential innovation into commercial propositions, guided by experienced entrepreneurs and mentors from the Cambridge innovation cluster.

The 3-month hybrid programme – which runs from 29 April to 11 July 2025 – is offered online and in-person via the Maxwell Centre, the University of Cambridge’s hub for industry and research.

impulse welcomes applicants from a range of disciplines, industries, universities and organisations – including PhDs, postdocs and researchers across physical sciences, technology and life sciences, as well as early-stage entrepreneurs and researchers, engineers, and managers from organisations. Royce is providing studentship support for applicants to the programme that align with our goals in materials innovation and entrepreneurship.

Tom Hancocks, Training and Skills Manager at Royce, says:

“Our work with impulse adds to Royce’s growing portfolio of support that aims to foster skills essential within materials innovation. By developing new talent and encouraging researchers to grow, the impulse programme helps hone the skills of materials science entrepreneurs. This new expertise will help deliver on the ambitious goals of the UK’s new National Materials Innovation Strategy, creating agile and bold companies that can drive development of new materials into the future.”

For the best chance to be matched with an available studentship, it is strongly recommended that you apply in the first round, which closes on 3rd February 2025.
