Join us for the first instalment of the IOM3 Surface Technologies Group Webinar Series, where Royce Professor Ping Xiao will chair a discussion exploring the role of surface engineering in the energy sector. This session will delve into cutting-edge advancements in coatings, materials, and surface treatments that enhance performance, efficiency, and sustainability in energy applications.

In Collaboration with Verder Scientific, this course explores milling, particle characterisation, tube furnaces and hardness testing techniques involved in the fabrication of advanced materials. The content will cover the application of these processes across Royce’s research areas in advanced metals processing, biomedical materials, chemical materials design, and nuclear materials.

Hosted by the British Carbon Group, this event will explore the technical and scientific aspects of carbon research with the potential to be applied to nuclear decommissioning. There is an opportunity for UK researchers to play a key role in emergent technologies, especially those that could be transferred from other industries and applications.

In this online seminar, Dr. Bethan Davies, Research Associate. Imperial College London will give a talk on Testing batteries performance – Elucidating chemical degradation and SEI formation in batteries with microchip-based electrochemistry mass spectrometry

This workshop aims to upskill Research Technical Professionals (RTPs) in the concepts of Automated Formulation by exposing them to World Class practitioners, speakers and the experience of fellow RTPs working in this area, along with a guided tour of the state-of-the-art facilities at the Materials Innovation Factory housed at the University of Liverpool. 

CHEMUK is the UK’s leading trade show supporting the R&D, engineering, sourcing, manufacture, and management of chemicals and formulated products.

This course will provide an introduction to energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis for alloys at the Royce Hub Building in Manchester.

The content will introduce the concepts for the generation of X-rays for alloy analysis and EDS techniques on bulk samples. Participants will cover experimental produres, quantification methods, sample preparation and analysis artefacts. The course aims to develop understanding and guidance for practical experimentation to ensure the collection of high-quality EDS data.

The 2025 Spring Meeting of the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) organized with the Foundation Jean-Marie Lehn will be held at the Convention & Exhibition Centre of Strasbourg (France), from May 26 to 30, 2025.

The conference will consist of 23 parallel symposia with invited speakers, oral and poster presentations assorted by a plenary session to provide an international forum for discussing recent advances in the field of materials science. The meeting will be augmented by an exhibition of products and services of interest to the conference participants.

In this online seminar, Dr. Andrew Strudwick, Application Manager at the Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre will give a talk on Graphene and 2D material deposition at the GEIC

This three-day event will feature cutting-edge science from internationally renowned keynote speakers, opportunities for early career researchers to give podium and poster presentations, a “meet-the-mentor” session, and networking events on the first two nights.

The Biomedical Materials team at Royce will exhibit at this year’s Tissue & Cell Engineering Society Conference and will be on hand throughout the event to answer questions about leading Materials Research expertise and capability available to access through Royce.
