The Student Research Sandpit WorkshopĀ offers doctoral students the chance to experience the ā€œResearch Sandpitā€ format often used by research councils and other funders to stimulate and support new lines of thinking for tackling complex research challenges. The event will run virtually, part-time over ten days, so it can be managed in parallel with a doctoral research workload.

Digital Twinning is a method of using real-world data to create a virtual representation to model a range of processes and systems and predict potential outcomes. The focus of this workshop will be around urban and environmental digital twins which are already transforming how cities are being planned, built, and managed, with examples appearing in cities across the world

This NTPMI workshop for Research Technical Professionals will consider the various challenges in handling data in materials science, such as: i) specification of metadata; ii) methods of compression or down-sampling; iii) data storage and retention practices; iv) sharing and tools for access.
