Rheology Anton Paar

Rheometers apply torque to twist a material (rotation or oscillation) and measures its response; from such experiments, the viscosity (visco) and stiffness (elastic) of the sample can be calculated. These viscoelastic properties can be related to temperature, time, or frequency. Rheology is able to provide information such as viscosity, storage/loss moduli, flow behavior, elasticity and recovery of a material.

Uses/Applications

The rheometer allows the rheology of polymer solutions to be understood. This can be used to relate the viscosity of a polymer to its molecular weight.
This can be applied to understanding polymer suspensions, such as commonly used in shampoos, conditioners etc.

  • Available temperature range between -150 °C and +450 °C

  • Changing the rheometer configuration between temperature chamber and other temperature module within 1 minute without additional tools or alignment

  • “View Assist” – Camera option for sample observation during tests

  • Maximum opening angle half-shells: >90 ° for convenient sample handling

  • Push and Pull functionality for convenient sample loading of DMTA bars

  • Selection of measuring geometries
