Cellerate Advances Battery Tech Research Through CEAMS

Innovative projects from the Centre of Expertise in Advanced Materials and Sustainability (CEAMS) are in progress, bringing together businesses across Greater Manchester to collaborate with consortium members and drive advancements in sustainable materials. Royce is pleased to share special insights from Cellerate, a company specialising in battery technologies.

Cellerate is focused on enhancing the performance, safety and recyclability of next-generation energy storage solutions. They specialise in automated systems and equipment for battery cell assembly and quality control, catering to customers worldwide who are involved in researching, developing and testing new battery materials and formats.

The work carried out through CEAMS spans across diverse application areas, including the foundation industries, healthcare, batteries, textiles, construction, chemical production, packaging and more.

Each of these sectors has unique sustainability challenges, and CEAMS is at the forefront of addressing these through advanced materials solutions.

Through CEAMS, Cellerate was able to access specialised equipment and collaborated with experts from The University of Manchester, Dr. Nazanin Mirhosseini (Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering) and Dr. Olivier Allegre (Laser Processing Research Laboratory (LPRL)), to investigate the optimum laser system that creates the highest quality cut of lithium battery electrodes.

Speaking on the impact of the project, Dr. Richard Fields, Managing Director of Cellerate said:

“I think the technology we’re seeing here and having demonstrated through CEAMS can underpin the manufacturing of next generation battery technologies.”
